You\u2019ve likely heard a lot about both, but what actually sets them apart?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s break it down in a clear and straightforward way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"682\">What are 4G and 5G?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4G and 5G are mobile network technologies that allow data to be transmitted at high speed. <\/strong>4G, the fourth generation, launched commercially in 2009 and is still the most widely used network today. 5G, the fifth generation, started rolling out in 2019 and is gradually becoming more available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both <strong>rely on radio waves to transmit data<\/strong>, but they operate differently. 4G works on frequencies below 6 GHz, while 5G can use much higher frequencies, even above 24 GHz. It uses higher frequencies and a system called massive MIMO, which allows multiple antennas to send and receive data at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This makes 5G more efficient and capable of handling more connections simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1566\">Coverage<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, 4G still has the edge in coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Higher-frequency signals used by 5G don\u2019t travel as far and struggle more with obstacles like buildings.
