Think of it as a very fine tube, even thinner than a human hair. This tube is called the core, and it\u2019s surrounded by a layer known as the cladding, which has different optical properties. When light travels through the core, it reflects off the cladding, staying inside the cable and moving over long distances with very little signal loss.<\/p>\n
